I've created a new Apache-only server side programming language, and I'm looking for Web developers to try it out and give feedback. The language is called Moto and can be downloaded from http://www.webcodex.com/moto. It's an embedded language much like PHP or ColdFusion. It installs as an Apache module on 1.3.x servers (Linux x86 only, as far as I know) with dso support. Once Moto is installed, you can create .moto pages as you please inside of your documents directory. The difference between Moto and other server side scripting languages is that, once you are happy with a Web application / site that you've created in Moto, you can use the included Moto module compiler (mmc) to generate a natively compiled Apache module out of your Moto pages. Once you've compiled a set of Moto pages, you don't even need Moto to run the resulting module. Compiled Moto modules are also way fast -- complex pages that don't communicate with a database may execute at hundreds of transactions per second! Moto is open source (GPL license). It comes with a full suite of objects and functions for state and session management, MySQL database connectivity, and a slew of utility classes like stacks, hashtables, string buffers etc. There is also an included interface definition language for easily exposing C funtions to moto. All object allocation occurs in a shared memory segment so maintaining state in objects between page views is a snap. What are you waiting for ? I'm looking for feedback. thanks, Related Stories: |
