HyperSpace Communications, Inc., a developer of Internet software that increases data transmission speeds and promotes efficient content delivery over the web, today announced a limited release of its flagship HyperSpace software. HyperSpace enables content providers to dramatically accelerate the transmission and receipt of data over the Internet through a sharp reduction in bandwidth requirement. The product is based on the Company's patent- pending content acceleration technology, which accelerates data in real time, allowing for faster downloading web sites. HyperSpace requires no new hardware and very little maintenance and is compatible with virtually every operating system. HyperSpace is the full-featured, commercial version of what began as Mod_gzip, a free, downloadable module the Company began offering a year ago to users of Apache servers. Since that time, Mod_gzip has been heavily tested by several hundred thousand users around the globe, including numerous Fortune 500 companies, and has earned a strong reputation for highly efficient, trouble-free operation. "By allowing content providers to accelerate their web sites by up to 10-fold, HyperSpace offers compelling opportunities to reduce bandwidth costs, increase site traffic, improve productivity and enhance the web experience," said John Yeros, chief executive officer. "We believe our technology's unique combination of functionality, flexibility and low entry cost affords us a distinct competitive advantage in our emerging industry." Yeros noted that the critical demand for compression and acceleration technology stems from exponential growth of the Internet as a tool of business and commerce. "As traffic on the Internet has increased, speed and bandwidth have become the Holy Grail, particularly in the wireless space," he said. "Our products are geared toward a wide range of business segments, including transaction-heavy financial institutions and e-commerce sites, access providers and web hosting services, and businesses and individuals who are increasingly relying on hand-held wireless communications devices. "Based on feedback from users of our early freeware product and, more recently, a select group of commercial content providers who have implemented our full HyperSpace offering, we believe our product represents a 'must have module' for any web server," Yeros said. "Our short-term objective is to continue building a core group of high profile customers for our products and use that momentum to kick off a major rollout of HyperSpace early in 2002," he added. "Our longer-term objective is to see that HyperSpace is installed on every device that is connected to the Internet." Related Stories: |
