Covalent Technologies Releases Apache Enterprise Products

At ApacheCon, Covalent, the leader in products and services for the Apache Web server, today announced that its enterprise products Covalent SSL and Covalent Fast Start Server are now available for the Windows platform. This port completes Covalent's support for all major operating systems. Both products are available for download in purchased and trial versions on the Covalent Web site (www.covalent.net).

Support for Windows is significant for enterprise customers who wish to use Apache as their Web server of choice. Instead of using different Web servers for different operating systems, which can raise costs of ownership and complexity of management, customers are now able to deploy Apache across all major platforms. According to industry studies, Apache is the world's most widely used Web server.

"Our large enterprise customers want to make Apache their default Web server of choice, yet at the same time, they make use of many different operating systems including Windows, UNIX and Linux. This port allows them to simplify the management of their Web content delivery systems," said John M. Jack, president and chief executive officer of Covalent. "By using Covalent they can tie all of these needs together under one common framework, regardless of operating system. Supporting these operating systems is a crucial step in our quest to be the defacto enterprise software provider for Web content delivery."

The Covalent Fast Start Server uses a graphical installation program to easily install SSL, PHP, DAV, Perl, Apache JServ, and Jakarta Tomcat, making installation of these various components easier and more cost effective. Covalent SSL provides industrial grade 128-bit encryption for the Apache Web server. Both products are available on both Windows 2000 and Windows NT.
