AbriaSoft, an Open Source software solutions provider, announced the release of Merlin Server, a web development and production server for Windows and Linux platforms. Merlin Server tightly integrates industry-leading open source technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Apache, SSL, Perl, PHP, and WebDAV with effective, easy to use development tools and templates. Merlin Server, like its predecessor Abria SQL Standard, supports Apache/SSL and ODBC connectivity, providing clients the ability to create applications using industry standard commercial software such as Microsoft Access, Fox Pro, Visual Basic, and Clarion as front ends for MySQL, PostgreSQL or other databases such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server. Besides support for core development languages such as PHP and PERL, Merlin server provides graphical development tools (IDEs) to accelerate development, and includes a complete open source e-commerce software platform. "We are making advanced web-development and deployment affordable and simple for anyone to use. All the required core elements are tightly integrated to provide a seamless development environment. Merlin Server provides easy installation and configuration of all the tools needed to design and host a fully secure and e-commerce capable website," says Paul Afshar, AbriaSoft CEO. Merlin Server includes many user-friendly development applications such as mod-dav, PHP MyAdmin, Zend Optimizer, Mod_perl, mod_ssl, PhpShop, PHP-Nuke, PHP-coder, Bluefish, Akopia and more. Merlin server comes with a liberal licensing scheme, extensive documentation, electronic installation manual and a 30-day installation support for registered customers. This product is now available at AbriaSoft's Web site. Complete Story Related Stories: |
